many tiny wildflowers: {ground} covers of yellows, whites, purples ~ w/ the buffalo beans. and grasshoppers, so it's hot.
that was a wellspring of a warm day. 22C. today the grass was green. bumblebee. genus: bombus a frog in the morning. 100s of crocuses. even a few deer and a new chickadee hideout.
coyotes. a couple of swainson's hawks. gulls & geese. cedar waxwings at mountain ash berries (rosaceae. genus: sorbus). bald eagle. owl, robins. song. porcupines. still seeding, planning. the garden hardiness zone seems more like 2 or 3, or zero. last year's potatoes lasted almost all winter. many shard puddles. ladybugs, other beetles, ants, spiders, moths. a definite sign of spring and it just keeps snowing. prairie crocuses... april's a pink {sprouting grass, egg, fish} moon, farmer's almanac. the giant ice cubes, receding.
what is it about daddy longlegs & woodpiles. harvestman, an animal, not a spider or Opilionids and Pholcids. the toe-biters (giant water bugs) yonder, not exactly pleasant imo, pincers just too huge. a cloud of bees in mint patch. a peony, languishing, now closer to ant hill. the little ants, crazy for yarrow. wasps, we've reached an accord. some romas have ripened, delicious, must grow more next year. other tomatoes have flowers again. parsley and romaine lettuce from seed - whoot!
hot, then rainy, and hot some more. dragonflies. and that was a lynx! the squirrel visits at plantings. it enjoyed some half potatoes, quinoa is all gone. a couple of what seemed to be brewer's blackbirds, very beautiful. they stayed for a while. squirrel: sunflowers are up, all over. elements: savory too. skunks and a juvenile porcupine, deer and coyotes. and mushrooms!
