11/12/2014

sedum
sedums were still blooming last week, hardy and beautiful plants, weird architecture, a rooming house for ladybugs and fungus gnats.

it's cold as (-20F, snow, a polar vortex).

it being winter...

1/16/2013

thoughts turn to amphibian hibernations.
beads
frozen mud? frogs? and bears' gestation (about 2 months; delayed implantation from a May/June tryst, cubs born Jan).

the potato crop

10/16/2012

it took probably 20-25 hours of labour, got a quarter bucket. at a low minimum wage,  it's $200/pound. the final sprouts were the cutest.
potato condo
so, opted for a kilo of mung beans at store: $15. it snowed and melted twice. deep leaves, ladybugs burrowing all over.  a new moon.
autumn leaves
coulda planted earlier (was mid-july). woulda got more potatoes. shoulda put it in more sun (just 2-4 hours a day). the soil was so-so. shoulda not covered plant when condo-ing... maybe next year.

also, difficult: the vertical garden w/ pallet.
